The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village
Council of the Village of Elk River, Hinn., was called to
order b~,- Mayor Bartelt on April 6, 1970, in the Council
Room of the Municipal Building at 7 :30 pm, members were

The minutes of the :March 16, 1970 mee-cing were read. No
additions or corrections.
Wilbur Daniels,XNOC John Plaisted, Walter Schumacher and
Adri;.n Barnier, representa.f1g-:I;he Elk River Rotary Club
reported a study is being made in to the fe~sibi1ity of
a swinllning pool in Elk Rivero Slide pictures \'iere shm.m

uecision from the Councilo They reported that matching funds are available for
a outdoor pool, under the Land and Water Conserv~tion Program. The council was
agree1l.ble that the~need is proba.bl;y there but suggested that the rota.ry go the
route of securing pledges from the citizens as a bond issue is out of the question
at this time.
Moved b37 CouTlcilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Hudson to extend the
existing fire contracts ninety days to facilitate drawing up the new fi~e contr~ctso
Motion unaminously carried.
Les Derr pnd Bob Dahms were present and discussion followed on our summer swi~ming
program. Dahms reported that :fvf5ke Arno11 Ann Nelson and Lori Prevo would be avail-
able. Dahms will assume the responsibility of running the program~ut will not
take an active part in ~aching or lifegaarding. Agreeable with the council to
h.;;;ve a swimrning 'program mld Derr ard. DOlhms to arrfl.nge and report back to the council
at our next meeting to finalize.

hours for the period April 13 to Nay 16, Cleanup Month, gS follows: !funday 5; OOpm
to 8:00pm, Tuesday 1:00pm to ~:OOpm, Thursday 1:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday 9:00am
to 5:30pm, with the reguhr summer hours Tuesday and Thursda~r 1:00pm to 8:00pm and
Saturday, jOOam to 5 :30pm to begin Ma~T l~. !4:otion unaminously c~rried.
Building permit -applications presented by Thurston Realt;r, Vernon V.lhiteoak and Ray

'It was ri'!prted that the Schroeder property presentlj" o"W11ed by Allen KrOlfbe
could possibly be purcha.sed for .pproxi~tely $10,000.00. . Bartelt and Husson
will approach Kr~fbe on possible purchase of his property. Houlton Investment's
L-shaped property is avail~ble for sale, purchase price to follow. George and
Loretta ?iJ:oos hiil.ve not been approached on sale of there property. It v-las
suggested that we tie up, by option, the prop~rty th~t could be purchased at
this time.
