The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council of the
Village of Elk River, !{inn., was calleci to order by Mayor Bartelt on May 4,
1'70, in th~ Council Room of the Village Office Building at 7:30 pm, members

Harry Dreissig requested the purchase of a 1000 gallon canvas water tank for the
Fire Deparment, cost bebleen $200.00 and $300.00.
Roy Sparre, Dr. A.F. Jarmoluk, Bernar~ Kratzke and Pat Donahue were present an.
made joint complaint of the present boat launching facility at York Avenue aM
of the possi~le purchase bY'the village of the Wheeler Spain property for a. park
area. They were advise. tha t the Spain property is on the Gielinquent tax list
and was be inS considered. for purchase, but that the appriisal price of $5,000.00
is consi.ere<< too high. Dr. Jarmoluk suggested that the Council approach th~
State Highwa~ Dept., about placing garbage cans bY' the Highway'lO bridge. The
Park Cormnittee will make a study on a possible boat launching facility in the

Swimming Ins~ructors: Michael Arnold and Lori Prevo $4.50 per hour and Ann
Nelson $50.09 per week. Lifeguards; ~ichael Arnold $2.75 per hour and Ann
Nelson $2.50,per hour. Dahms salary to be $3.25 per hour for Park ah~ Village

Hohlen and DeRosier were present and discussion followed on a posslble central
burglar darrn system for the village. Agreeabie to"meeti.wit.h the local business-
men at a special meeting called for 7:30pm, May 11, 1970, to discuss a central
burglar alarm system. Hohlen will have a representative from a alarm company
be present t? answer questions and give some idea of the cost of such a systemo

that an increase in gas rates will be proposed in the near future by North
Central Gas Co., ..net that the responsibility of retail regulation, must be taken
by the fatmicipalities. They invitecl our ti..,it to become a part of the regulatory
