Mrs. H. Marohn was present to request the Council re-co~isidertlD! application of
tile new librarian," ~~. Gamer, and ,give~r the oppor~~t1:'to obtain this

special reconsidera~ion was td-ven JiBr employment, application and th~t the
applicant chosen,'Mrs. Garmer, will remain as the new Librarian ..anci that no
further discussion pe hel~ on the matter.
The Elk River Youth: Ii'ockey Assoc~ation was present and.'repr~senteqpy Dave
Halgren, Guy Varty, Neil Larson and Jo~ Bailey Jr. ~'y presented their pro-
gram for 1970-71. After outlining the ,program there reqU,est .was that: tile village
pay for a set of boards which .woUlci pz?me.rily be uSed by J,he PeeWees and Bantem
groups. This new :rink would):)e set.up iP the bowla.rea~fthe Juhior High School.

A radar unit was demonstrated and. a description, and price will be forthcoming from

A discussion with John MacGibbon in regard to the railroad crossing closing at
Ki:~arid -wwell -Avenues 'indicated that nothing new had developed since the hearing
and that t~ write up in the newspaper pretty well covered the situation to date.
It was proposed that Jolin MacGibbon draft a letter to the railroad indicating our
desire to retain one .of the.crossin~and to use the,p.remti. that our, traffic,

Leon Vasser brought up the proble~ of Dutch Elm Disea~e and 'it ~s d~cided; "that

Earl Hohlen was asked about time spent on wa:ges for 'part time'llElp e~a,ged in

A hours on duty policesche,dule was discussed, and will b.e dra~.UP by Earl Houlen.
This will provide the Council with some idea of what lours the police are on duty.

approximately $200.00 towards. purchase 6t a remote ~adio station tor HarVey Richners
house to enable all police, both tu~ltime~d part time, t.o;J~i--reivePCllice calls in
their homes. This should aid in overall police dispatching. In conjunction with

this a base station will be installed in tie county radio shack under the water
. tower. Ken Van Patten will donate the use of this base station.
It was agreed to make the $750.60 monthly salary of the liquor store manager
retroactive as of March 1, 1970, which was the end of his six months probationary
emploplent.
