Appoint,by motion, as acting mayor for 2019.
Background/Discussion
Per city code and state law, the Council is required to appoint an acting mayor. The acting mayor performs
the duties of mayor during the disability or absence of the mayor, or if there is a vacancy in the office.
Although all Council is eligible for this appointment at any time,past practice has been a rotation of Wards
4-1-3-2,which corresponds with the election terms and allows for a year of experience for new
Councilmembers before assuming the role.

Following past practice, Councilmember Westgaard would be appointed as acting mayor for 2019.
