7.1 PRSR SR 02-13-2019
The Elk River parks deer hunt had another successful year. We had several quality hunters this year that put
in lots of hours scouting and hunting in order to be successful in getting an opportunity to take a deer. We
shot and recovered 23 deer of which 19 were does and 4 were mature bucks. Three deer, 2 does and 1
mature buck, were lost. Week 3 of the season was the only week a deer was not shot and recovered. We had
the most individual hunts ever, totaling 431 hunts this year. As a result of this hunting effort, we also saw the
most deer ever at 1011. Many of the deer seen were most likely seen multiple times. The average deer seen per
hunt this season was 2.3. Most of the parks are good early season through the middle of November. After
that, deer activity in some parks dies off, coinciding with post rut and food source changes. Late season
Woodlands 4, 5 and 6 have good deer activity to the end of the year.

Alba Ridge - 14 hunts, 6 am and 8 pm. 16 does, 3 bucks and 1 fawn, totaling 20 with an average of 1.4 deer
seen per hunt (1 doe SR)
Birch Meadow - 41 hunts, 16 am and 25 pm. 39 does, 8 bucks and 24 fawns, totaling 71 with an average of 1.7
deer seen per hunt (1 buck lost)
Camp Cozy - 7 hunts, 2 am and 5 pm. 5 does, 0 bucks and 1 fawn totaling 6 with an average 0.85 deer seen
per hunt. (1 doe SR)
Harris Island 23 hunts, 18 am and 5 pm. 14 does, 6 bucks and 5 fawns totaling 25 with an average of 1.0 deer
seen per hunt.
Hillside 1 - 2 hunts, 0 am and 2 pm. 0 does, 2 bucks and 3 fawns totaling 5 with an average of 2.5 deer seen
per hunt.
Hillside 2 - 82 hunts, 38 am and 44 pm. 103 does, 23 bucks and 2 fawns totaling 128 with an average of 1.5
deer seen per hunt. (8 doe SR)
Sedge Meadow - 79 hunts, 23 am and 56 pm. 99 does, 20 bucks, and 3 fawns totaling 122 with an average of
1.5 deer seen per hunt. (1 doe lost)
Woodlands 1 - 22 hunts, 2 am and 20 pm. 15 does, 8 bucks, and 3 fawns totaling 26 with an average of 1.2
deer seen per hunt.
Woodlands 2 - 39 hunts, 15 am and 24 pm. 79 does, 27 bucks, and 2 fawns totaling 108 with an average 2.8
deer seen per hunt (2 does SR)
Woodlands 3 - 12 hunts, 0 am and 12 pm. 12 does, 5 bucks and 1 fawn totaling 18 with an average of 1.5 deer
seen per hunt.
Woodlands 4 - 51 hunts, 20 am and 31 pm. 141 does, 43 bucks and 27 fawns totaling 211 with an average of
4.1 deer seen per hunt. (4 does and 2 bucks SR and 1 doe lost)
Woodlands 5 - 39 hunts, 13 am and 26 pm, 174 does 59 bucks 1 fawn totaling 234 with an average of 6.0 deer
seen per hunt. (2 does and 2 bucks SR)
Woodlands 6 - 20 hunts, 8 am and 12 pm. 27 does, 5 bucks and 5 fawns totaling 37 with an average of 1.9
deer seen per hunt. (1 doe SR)
Of our 27 hunters this year, 14 shot and recovered deer this year.
