Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the hiring of Jena Murray as park maintenance worker effective February 25, 2019.
Background/Discussion
When park maintenance worker Tanner Anderson submitted his resignation notice we ran an internal
posting to fill this position. We received six applications and interviewed all but one candidate who had
already taken a different job. Following the required pre-employment testing,we recommend Jena Murray
for this position.
Ms. Murray has an Associate's degree in Wilderness and Park Management from Vermilion Community
College. During her schooling, she worked a five-month internship at Tettegouche State Park and this
past summer worked for our park maintenance division as a seasonal laborer. Ms. Murray also recently
received her Class A Commercial Driver's License and in December was hired as an on-call firefighter for
the city.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position and is part of the IUOE Local 49 Union. All pay and benefits will follow
union contract and city policy.
