Approve,by motion, the hiring of Wyatt Studniski to the position of police officer effective February 20,
2019.
Background/Discussion
When Officer O'Connell resigned,we posted internally to fill this vacancy. We received an application
from part-time Community Service Officer Wyatt Studniski. Following an interview with Chief
Nierenhausen we proceeded with updating Mr. Studniski's background check and had him complete
physical and psychological testing. With all results passing,we recommend Mr. Studniski for this
position.
Mr. Studniski started with the City of Elk River as a police reserve officer in October 2016. He was the
department's reserve officer Hours Leader in 2017-2018 with 511 volunteer hours. He applied for and
was hired as a part-time community service officer in February 2018. Mr. Studniski has an associate's
degree in law enforcement and completed his skills program in December 2018.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position. All pay and benefits will be consistent with union contract and city policy.
