Approve, by motion, the low bid and authorize the execution of a contract with ASTECH Corporation
for the construction of the 2019 Street Improvement project.
Background/Discussion
Pursuant to approval of the proposed improvements detailed in the feasibility study presented on January
7, 2019, staff has advertised and received bids for the construction of the 2019 Street Improvement
project. There were a total of five bids received that ranged from $2,221,995.76 to $2,545,100.02. A
tabulation of the bids is attached. The low bid was submitted by ASTECH Corporation.
The schedule for the project is as follows:
Feasibility Report approved by City Council January 7, 2019
Open Bids February 27, 2019
Award Contract March 4, 2019
Construction May, 2019 – September 2019
Financial Impact
Extremely competitive pricing resulted in the project bid coming in substantially lower than the Capital
Improvement Plan estimate. With engineering and construction testing services included the total cost for
the project is expected to be $2,500,000.
