SR 03-04-2019 Request for Action To Item Number Mayor and City Council 4.10 Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent March 4, 2019 Justin Femrite, P.E., City Engineer Item Description Reviewed by Accept Bids and Award Contract for 2019 Street Cal Portner, City Administrator Improvement Project Reviewed by Action Requested Approve, by motion, the low bid and authorize the execution of a contract with ASTECH Corporation for the construction of the 2019 Street Improvement project. Background/Discussion Pursuant to approval of the proposed improvements detailed in the feasibility study presented on January 7, 2019, staff has advertised and received bids for the construction of the 2019 Street Improvement project. There were a total of five bids received that ranged from $2,221,995.76 to $2,545,100.02. A tabulation of the bids is attached. The low bid was submitted by ASTECH Corporation. The schedule for the project is as follows:  Feasibility Report approved by City Council January 7, 2019  Open Bids February 27, 2019  Award Contract March 4, 2019  Construction May, 2019 – September 2019 Financial Impact Extremely competitive pricing resulted in the project bid coming in substantially lower than the Capital Improvement Plan estimate. With engineering and construction testing services included the total cost for the project is expected to be $2,500,000.
