Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Gordon Myette for the position of street maintenance operator II
effective March 6, 2019.
Background/Discussion
We went to market to fill our street maintenance operator II position that was vacated last August. We
originally hired a candidate who was unable to begin work due to a family emergency. We went back to
market and received 42 applications. We initially interviewed 10 candidates and continued on to interview
an additional 9. Following background, reference checks, and pre-employment testing we recommend
Gordon Myette for this position.
Mr. Myette holds his Class A Commercial Driver’s License and has been working as a transportation
specialist for Core Mark for five years. Prior to this he was a warehouse associate/forklift operator at
Core Mark. Mr. Myette worked seasonally for Tallberg doing snowplowing and winter maintenance and
began working for the city in November as one of our newest firefighters.
This position is part of the IUOE Local 49 Union and all pay and benefits will follow union contract and
city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
