Action Requested
Authorization to install a new flag pole at the Korean War Memorial in Lions Park in an amount up to
$2,116.13.
Background/Discussion
On May 3, 2010, at the City Council meeting, an Elk River resident updated the Council that the previous
flag pole at the Korean War Memorial in Lions Park had blown down several years ago due to the
condition of the pole. Park Maintenance Supervisor Rodney Schreifels received an estimate in the amount
of $2,116.13 to replace the pole, including complete installation and two flags. The Council concurred in
the interest to get this flag pole replaced and discussed the possibility of using Council Contingency.
Councilmember Zerwas informed me that the Elk River Lions plan on contributing some funds to help
replace the flag pole.
Financial Impact
The impact would be $2,116.13 less the amount contributed by the Elk River Lions. Funds would come
from Council Contingency.
