6.1b ERMUSR 03-12-2019 Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Theresa Slominski— Finance & Office Manager
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
March 12, 2019 6.1b
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Our auditors, Abdo, Eick, and Meyers (AEM), were here for audit fieldwork on February
28 and March 1. There were no audit adjustments proposed outside of expected
pension related adjustments, and these were lower than anticipated. The final audit
report will be presented at the April commission meeting. I am very grateful for the
talented accounting staff we have, and for the organizational support of accounting
processes throughout the company that contribute towards good accounting records,
and, ultimately, a good audit.
• The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports 860, 861, and 923 for 2018 have all
been filed. These are federal reports that are required to be filed annually related to
the output of our plant standby engines' and the Landfill engines' output and fuel
sources; our system distribution numbers in MW, revenues, and meters served; wind
and solar participation; and reliability numbers.
• MISO (Midwest Independent System Operator) reporting will be due later this month.
These reports are based on 2017 information for determining our transmission rebates
we will receive as being a part owner of the transmission systems with MMTG (Midwest
Municipal Transmission Group).
• We are in the process of testing a revision to the presentation of the monthly bills to
better segregate City versus ERMU services. This change also allows for a slight change
to the color scheme and the pictorials (moving from graphs to snapshot information.) If
all goes well, the changes will be able to be in place with the bills customers will receive
in May.
