6.1c ERMUSR 04-09-2019 Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Mark Fuchs—Electric Superintendent MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: April 9, 2019 6.1c SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • Had 7 new house services. • Continued collecting data with the GPS for our ArcView maps as time permits. • Continued tree trimming. • Continued rebuilding the three phase overhead line on Jarvis Street between 165th Avenue and Highway 10. • A street light was struck by a vehicle at 18563 Zane Court. • Updated 12 street light fixtures to LED bulbs on Baldwin Street in the Deerfield Addition. Replaced a street light on Highway 10 and Lowell Avenue which was struck this winter. • The City shop is finishing up the Department of Transportation inspections on our trucks and trailers. • De-energized the original transformer at the Sherburne County Courthouse to allow them to perform work on the secondary switchgear inside the building. • One of the three vacuum bottles on the 69KV circuit switcher at the Waco 1 Substation needs to be replaced. It gave a low pressure alarm on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) so our system engineer was working with the manufacturer to determine the cause and what parts need to be replaced. • Assistant Electric Superintendent Tom Geiser attended the Electrical Lineworker Technology Program Advisory Board meeting at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena, MN. He received an update from the Academic Dean, discussed the existing curriculum, and gave suggestions on ways to improve the curriculum as the industry changes. • Lineworker Derek Groebner has accepted a job with Connexus.
