SUBJECT: Consider Annual Liquor License Renewals
REQUEST
Renewal of liquor licenses for 2005-2006 licensing year.
APPLICANTS
A list is attached.
BACKGROUND
Liquor licenses run from July 1 through June 30 with the exception of the 2 A.M. license.
The 2 A.M. license runs for one-year concurrent ~t the time of application. (Elk River Bowl
also has a 2 A.M. license but this license does not expire until 9 /28/05 and will be on the
council agenda for approval at that time.) All of the establishments have submitted the
appropriate documentation and license fees. Background checks are necessary for the
renewals of on-sale, wine, and club licenses. Background checks have also been done on 3.2
percent malt beverage as suggested by Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division of the
Department of Public Safety.
ACTION REQUESTED
Council motion to approve the liquor licenses indicated on the attached list for the 2005-
2006 licensing year.

2 a.m. Bar closings
Since the inception of the 2 a.m. bar closings, I am pleased to report that the later closings
have not resulted in any rise in calls for service, atrests related to the later closings or
incidents at any of the licensed establishments. I

I would support continuing the later closings without any data to illustrate any negative
impact upon the community.
