SUBJECT: Community Development Director-Sathe Executive Search
Update
At the May 9, 2005 City Council worksession, Greg Albrecht, from Sathe Executive Search
was present to discuss the community development director position and status of the
search. At that meeting a timetable was presented which called for the "top ten" candidates
to be presented in written form at this June 6 meeting. On May 9 we also discussed with the
City Council the possibility of having a special City Council meeting on June 27 to hold
interviews for the fi11alists for the position. Also at the May 9 meeting, it was noted that the
timetable was aggressive and optimistic and this is turning out to be the case. Attached is the
timetable that was presented at the May 9 meeting.
The deadline for the applications was May 30 and Greg has advised me that he is still in the
process of interviewing qualified applicants. Thetefore Greg will not be prepared to present
the top ten to the City Council in written form until the June 13 worksession. At this time
Greg and I are discussing July 11 (Council worksession evening) as a tentative date for the
City Council to hold interviews for the top candidates. Prior to this interview date, Greg
would come out and meet with the City Council for an hour or so to review the finalist for
the position and to discuss interview questions and the interview process. This presentation
of the finalist could be during a special meeting on June 27 or it may be able to work into the
July 5 Council meeting.

Re: CDD Search Update
Attached documents include the compiled salary survey, sample salary survey of CD D's
salaries and ranges and a tentative time table listed below for the CDD search. For our
discussion on Monday, May 9th.
Time table is as follows:
~ Source candidates through May 30th
~ Interview and screen candidates through May 30th
~ Recommend short list for council review by June 6th
~ Interview final candidates by June 15th
~ Complete final reference checks for top candidates by June 21 st
~ Complete any testing or background checks by June 21 st
~ Make offer by June 28th
~ Hire date by July 15th or August 1st
On Monday night we need to discuss the compiled qualifications survey for consensus on
areas of divergence and decide on a salary range that is competitive with the market.
