SUBJECT: Discussion on Expansion of Fire Station
Steve Dittbenner, Ambulance Coordinator for the Elk River Fire and Ambulance Service,
Incorporated, and I will be present at the June 13,2005 Council worksession to discuss
expansion of Fire Station 1. There have been numerous meetings held with the Ambulance
Board to discuss addition alternatives at Station 1, of which would include an ambulance bay
along with offices, bathrooms, mechanical room, and storage area.
I have been working with Chris Leeseberg, Michele McPherson, and other city staff to
discuss timelines the ambulance would be facing for the possibility of a late fall
groundbreaking. The addition would be on the west side of Station 1 towards the Adams
Furniture building. At this time the site has been surveyed and soil borings have been
conducted to ensure the proposed site meets all standards for the addition.
Finance and Administrative Services Director Lori Johnson will also be present at the June
13, 2005 worksession to discuss financing options for the proposed addition. The Elk River
Fire and Ambulance, Incorporated is looking forward to the opportunity of discussing the
proposed addition with the Mayor and City Council on June 13, 2005. Additional
information will be distributed at the worksession showing proposals that have been
discussed by the Ambulance Board and Building Committee.
