June 7, 1971
The Regular Semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held on Monday,
June 7th, 1971 at 7 :30 pm in the Village Hall. All members were present: Mayor Barthelt,
Councilmen Hudson, Syring, Konop, and Otto.

The minutes of the May 17th, 1971 regular meeting were read. The Minutes were approved.
Moved by Councilman Syring and seconded by Councilman Konop, to postpone the Public
Hearing for Sanitary Sewer and Watermain improvements scheduled for 8:00pm, ~londay,
June 21, 1971 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 6, 1971. Motion unaminously carried.
First, the Council met '~d.th ~l.I'. Glen Smith to discuss with him his unemployment
situation. Nexfthe Council met with the Police chief Robert Olson to discuss with
him the ~linnesota State Police Convention, June 19th thru June 22th.

Moved by Hudson seconded by Syring to accept the preliminary report on sewer. water
extensions for Vernon Ave., Meadowvale Rd. and York Avenue. Carried, All voted yes.
Moved by Syring, Seconded by Hudson to call for plans and specs on the whole pro-
ject~ Carried, All voted Yes

Moved by Hudson, seconded by Konop to adopt the preliminary report on the Elk
River Street, Maintenance Program. Motion carried. All voted Yes
Next the Council met with Mr. Pearson, the Elk River High School Band Director.

Moved by otto, seconded by Hudson to authorize $450.00 to the Elk River summer band.
Carried, All voted Yes
Next the Council met with Lloyd Barthel, the Elk River Fire Chief.
Moved by Syring, Seconded by Otto to adopt the Fire Contracts as written and
presented to the Village Council by the the Elk River Fire Chief, except for ./"
Ostsego Township which will be $500.00 for the Yearly Contracts. Motion Carried.
All voted yes.

Next the Council met with Lester Derr, the Street Superindendent and discussed th.e
ordering of Mercury seal.
Moved by Syring, Seconded by Konop to replace the Murcury seal with a mechanical
seal for $1,300.00. Motion. carried, all voted Yes.
The following Resolution was moved by Syring seconded by Hudson: that the Village
Council hire Rich Dreissig, Gary Dreissig, and John Dietz for the purpose of working
in the park and Recreation program at the rate which will be determined at a later
date, provided that said employed shall be for a period not to exceed eight weeks
or until the Village has experienced the total amount of money donated to the Village
of E~ River for Park and Recreational purposes in 1971, whichever date is sooner. The
program to be supervised and Coordinated by the Lions Club of Elk River. Resolution
carried. All voted yes.
The following building permits were approved by the Council: Glen L. Bush, Joe
Demarais, Ervin Hetrick, and Duane Hudson.
