Action Requested
Provide staff direction for snow and ice control operations on city sidewalks.
Background/Discussion
During the April 15, 2019, City Council work session, staff presented a summary of the city’s snow and
ice control policy, service levels, and areas of concern. Council requested staff to bring back information
relating to the cities sidewalk snow and ice control for further discussion.
Staff is requesting Council direction in relation to service levels for city sidewalk snow and ice control.
Currently, staff removes snow and ice from approximately 24.6 miles of the existing 52 miles of city
sidewalk. With current staffing levels and equipment the city is unable to complete snow and ice removal
within the 24 hours provided by city ordinance.
