Action Requested
Approve,by motion, extending the temporary recreation program lead position at the Activity Center.
Background/Discussion
Following the retirement of Annette Bonin and to accommodate continued service levels at the Activity
Center without filling the vacant senior citizen coordinator position, the City Council approved the hire
of Megan Leeseberg as a temporary recreation program lead.
The city administrator's intent was to maintain current services with staffing flexibility in the event the
Multipurpose Facility would eventually go on line. The facility will soon be under construction with an
estimated opening of mid-2020.
We wish to continue this temporary position until our complete staffing needs in the new facility are
better understood. However any employee, seasonal or temporary,by Public Employees Retirement
Association (PERA) rules beyond six months must participate in the retirement program. Further, federal
law also requires health insurance options under Affordable Care Act.
Financial Impact
The temporary position is funded with funds allocated for the senior programmer position which is also
budgeted for in 2020.
