DISCUSSION:
• Delivered 17 new water meters.
• Sealed the water meter, installed encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop ties
from 16 water services.
• Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples
o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria.
o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH
• Completed 22 routine fluoride samples
o All samples met MDH standards.
o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report
• Completed two Total Trihalomethanes and Haloacetic Acids (THM/HAAS) samples for
the MDH.
• The first phase of the annual water system leak detection survey is complete.There
were six areas identified as having potential water leaks. The next step is to locate the
source of these possible leaks and make the necessary repairs.
• On August 21, Metro Utilities lowered a section of the water main under School Street
to allow room for the new storm sewer required for the new Multipurpose Facility. The
water department worked with city staff to coordinate and notify customers before
shutting off the water main from Proctor Avenue to Jackson Avenue. The water was off
for less than three hours.
• The water operators have been locating and exercising the valves located in the 2021
street project areas. We are doing this ahead of schedule to allow time to repair any
valves before the projects begin.
• During the demolition of the old ice arena, a live 1.5 inch copper water service was
found that we had no record of.The demolition work had to be delayed until the
unknown water service could be shut off. Water department staff helped find the
connection point to the water main, then shut the line off and disconnected it from the
water main. RJM Construction expressed their appreciation for the assistance from the
water department.

• The water department has continued to locate and validate existing areas of the
distribution system to increase accuracy of system maps.
• The contractor that will be sandblasting and repainting The Auburn Street Water Tower
is set to start work on September 9.
