Mayor to accept donation from Elk River High School Flag Runners.
Approve,by motion, a resolution accepting a donation for a flag pole by the ERRS Flag Runners.
Background/Discussion
In preparation for their annual Memorial Day event,members of the Elk River American Legion Post
sought to hold the event at River's Edge Park. The event includes a raising of the American Flag.
As the park does not have a flag pole,members of the Elk River Flag Runners initiated a campaign to
raise funds for a suitable flag pole.
In consultation with the leadership of the American Legion Post, city leaders will seek to relocate the
existing veterans memorial to Lion John Weicht Park in conjunction with the construction of new
recreation amenities at the park. The legion post previously held their Memorial Day event at Lion John
Weicht Park and expressed interest in returning to the park as it better accommodates the participants
and visitors to the annual event.
The City Council will utilize the generous donation from the Flag Runners to relocate the veterans
memorial and erect a proper flag pole.

Resolution 19-
A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Acknowledging
Contributions
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations, and
individuals for their contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River received a hcrc t(: donation from
Flag Runners of Elk River with the intent it be used by the Parks and Recreation
Department for the installation and maintenance of a city park flag pole.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council,by at least four-fifths
vote, to acknowledge the support and commend the Flag Runners of Elk River for their
donation.
The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember
, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof-

resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
