VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
May 20, 1940
A special meeting of the Council was held Thursday May 20, 1940
Members present:
M.C. Tesch, Pres.; Geo Cornelius, G.A. Bailey and Frank Nickerson, Trustees; Wm
H Greupner, Clerk
Herman Mahron came before the Council and asked if he could be appointed foreman on the Curb
and Sidewalk project. He was told that the Council had nothing to say in regards to this matter and
he would have to see Mr. Kissel, W.P.A. area engineer at Buffalo.
Mr. Davies relief administrator brought up the case of Mrs. Otto Hemming and a Mr. White. He
state that he had received several letters from the South Dakota Children’s Home Society at Sioux
Falls stating that Mrs. Hemming had a child in Dec 1939 and left it in their home in Jan 1940. Mrs.
Hemming being a resident of the Village of Elk River, a motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded
by Geo Cornelius to bring the child to Sherburne County and offer the home $60.00 for the keep of

the child from Feb to June 1 1940.
No further business, meeting adjourned.
