VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
July 1, 1940

The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday July 1 1940 at 8
o’clock P.M.
Members present:
M.C. Tesch, Mayor; Geo Cornelius and Frank Nickerson, Trustees; Wm H
Greupner, Clerk
The minutes of the last meetings were read and approved.
A motion was made by Frank Nickerson seconded by Wm Greupner to allow Leo Varville a no
intoxicating malt liquor license for one year. Motion carried.
The following relief clients were taken care of
Joe Belanger $8.00 rent
James Lero $10.00 Groc
James Lero $3.00 ½ mo rent
Dan Hjerpe, Lee Bishop and Herb Greupner a committee from the Fire Dept were present and bids
were opened for a new fire truck as follows.

With foam extinguisher $18.00

4 in suction hose instead of 3 ½ $40.00

After discussing the bids with the committee from the Fire Dept a motion was made by Geo
Cornelius seconded by Frank Nickerson to have the Flour City Fire truck Bldg Co build the truck
for $2395.00
The terms of Mrs. L.D. Bailey, Mrs. M.C. Tesch and Mrs. Wm Greupner of the Elk River Library
board expiring at this time it was decided to appoint Mrs. Harry Briggs and Mrs. L.A. Dare in the
place of Mrs. Tesch and Mrs. Greupner cause of their resignation and Mrs. Bailey continue another
three years.
A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Frank Nickerson to buy new lawn mower for
$13.50 from Caleys.
A motion was made by Frank Nickerson and Geo Cornelius to pay up the note the Village owes the
Firemans relief association which is $1000.00.
