07-03-1939 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING July 3, 1939 The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday July 3, 1939 at 8 o’clock P.M. Members present: Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, and Geo Cornelius, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, Clerk The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Donald Dare came before the Council and stated that the Fairgrounds was a very undesirable place fo the band to play and he wanted to know if some other place in town could be fix up for the band. Frank Nickerson, Pres. Appointed Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude and Wm Greupner as a committee to work with Mr. Dare and find a better location. The matter was brought up again about the contract for street lighting and power for pumpling. If was decided to table the matter until the next meeting and have the clerk write to some of the neighboring towns to see how the rates compare. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to reappoint the following members on the library board. Mrs. Huseth, White and Parsons. Motion carried. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Patenaude to issue a warrant for $250.00 from the General Fund payable to the Fireman’s relief association to apply on the note for the firetruck. A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Geo Cornelius to grant C.M. Fossness a building permit to build a home on Princeton St. The clerk reported the the Village was $1741.09 short in the Bond and Interest fund to pay the st Water Works bonds which were due August 1. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Patenaude to borrow this amount from the General Fund until the next tax assessment was turned in. Motion carried. A motion was made by Wm. Greupner seconded by Geo Cornelius to grant Emily Roman an on and off sale non intoxicating malt liquor license. Motion carried. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A.
