09-05-1939 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING September 5, 1939 The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday September 5, 1939 at 8 o’clock P.M. Members present: Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, and Geo Cornelius, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, Clerk The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Harry Dow and C.E. Dokken representing the N.W. Bell Tele Co were present in the matter of the application of their company to change its schedule of telephone rates at its Elk River exchange. After some discussion about the higher rate schedule a motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to have Frank White, Village attorney hire what help he might need and investigate the matter before the hearing which is to be held at the Court house at 10:30 o’clock Sept 27, 1939. Motion carried. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to grant John P. Wagner on off sale non intoxicating malt liquor license. Motion carried. A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Geo Cornelius to grant the following building permits Aug Meyers an addition, H. La Montague a garage and Alan Dare a house. Motion carried. The annual library report was read and accepted. Geo Cornelius Fire chief reported that at the last Firemens meeting it was requested that the Village buy 200 ft of 2 ½ hose. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to buy 100 ft of 2 ½ in. eureka hose of HR Caley. Another motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by G.A. Bailey to buy 100 ft of 2 ½ in eureka hose of H.R. Caley. Motions carried. The matter was brought up again about putting in a water pipe above the bridge for fire protection. It was decided to have Geo Cornelius and Dan Hjerpe take care of this matter. A motion was made by Wm Patenaude seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the following bills. E.R. Power and Light Co.
