Action Requested
Approve, by motion, the hiring of Timothy Trebesch as Code Enforcement Officer effective
December 17, 2019.
Background/Discussion
Staff went to market to fill the position vacated when Code Enforcement Officer Dave Hetrick retired.
We received 41 applications and offered interviews to 15 candidates. Following second interviews with
four candidates, background and reference checks, staff recommends Timothy Trebesch for this position.
Mr. Trebesch has spent most of his career rising through the ranks at Fourteen Foods, a multi-unit owner
and operator of 226 DQ Grill & Chill restaurants. He began his career as a general manager eventually
holding responsibility for many facets of the business including construction manager for 30 new builds
and 20 remodels. He has demonstrated his ability to work with people to achieve results and, in the role
play exercise we held during the interviews, was firm yet understanding of fictional resident Joe Snuffy’s
code enforcement concerns.
Mr. Trebesch will start at step A of pay grade 3N. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
This is a budgeted position.
