Action Requested
Adopt,by motion, a resolution appointing election judges for the 2020 elections.
Background/Discussion
Minnesota Statute §20413.21 requires election judges for precincts in a city to be appointed by the Council
at least 25 days before the election at which the judges will serve.
The attached resolution lists the judges that have been assigned to work the Special House 30A Primary
Election on January 14, 2020, the Special House 30A General Election on February 4, 2020, the
Presidential Nomination Primary on March 3, 2020, the State Primary on August 11, 2020, and/or the
State General Election on November 3, 2020.
Financial Impact
Election judges are paid a wage of$10.50 and co-chairs receive $11.50 per hour.

A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River Appointing Election
Judges for the 2020 Elections
WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statute 204B.21, the City Council shall officially
approve the appointment of election judges; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River City Council hereby adopts the judges listed on Exhibit
A,hereto attached, as the official judges for the Special House 30A Primary Election on
January 14, 2020, Special House 30A General Election on February 4, 2020, Presidential
Nomination Primary on March 3, 2020, State Primary Election on August 11, 2020, and the
State General Election on November 3, 2020,with the understanding that changes may be
necessary to the appointments in order to fill vacancies and meet party balance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk
River,Minnesota, as follows: that the names listed in Exhibit A, attached hereto, are the
official election judges for the City of Elk River 2020 elections, and the City Council
authorized the city clerk to appoint additional judges as needed.
