Action Requested
Appoint,by motion,Michelle Hegarty and Mary Keifenheim to the Library Board for three-year terms
beginning immediately and expiring December 31, 2022.
Background/Discussion
Per the Advisory Board and Commission Policy, the Mayor shall make appointments to the Library
Board,with approval of the Council.
Mick Stoffers has decided not to seek reappointment to the Library Board. The Mayor is recommending
Michelle Hegarty to fillMick's vacant position.
Mary Keifenheim recently completed her first three-year term on the Library Board and would like to be
reappointed for another three-year term.

part of the publishing community in Minnesota and beyond, and
literacy is important to me. I have been a member and
secretary of many school district and sports programs and am
currently_ not serving anywhere for the first time in 15 years,

leaving something missing in my life. I have always wanted to
apply to work at the library, but time constraints with my editing
business would not allow for it. I can't think of a better way to
spend my time than as a member of the library Board of my
hometown.

or secretary of many boards, including school PTO, theater,
roller derby, newspaper, reading and literacy groups, and
more. I understand the need to play well with others and
respect many varying opinions, and while sometimes in the
past I was more verbally and visually active in a group, I have
found in recent years that listening, interpreting, and action are
better ways for me to participate.

I would like to serve on the Library Board for another term because I am interested in modifying
and perhaps expanding the board's role. The library is a wonderful community asset and
hopefully, the board could play a role in increasing community support and involvement.
