The water operators have started the annual task of recharging all the filters at the
water treatment plants. This process takes roughly one week per filter.
On December 5, a water mixing unit was installed in the Johnson Street Water Tower to
prevent ice buildup on top of the water, which is extremely damaging to the structure
and paint. We normally drain this tower and utilize Auburn Street Water Tower for the
winter, which is not possible this year as a result of the Auburn Street Water Tower
rehabilitation not being completed.
The water department has been performing preventative maintenance on the water
treatment plants. The operators are also repairing or upgrading any items requiring
attention.
