DISCUSSION:
In the last 30 days, the level two charger located downtown had 12 sessions and
provided customers with 75 kWh of green energy. The charger in the ERMU/City Hall
parking lot had 12 sessions and provided customers with 223 kWh of green energy. The
DC fast charger at the Coborns fuel station has had 15 sessions and provided 127 kWh
of green energy to customers. There was a total of 39 charging sessions and 425 kWh of
energy provided over the last 30 days. Below is a chart that summarizes energy sales for
electric vehicles in 2019.
Staff updated the Energy Guide which is now called Your Guide to Home Energy Use.
This is a resource that is used to educate customers on how to use energy more
efficiently. This tool provides information on general appliance use and how to calculate
energy consumption. The updates include a new look and feel, more color, pictures, and
educational graphics. Staff uses this tool for educational purposes or to work with

customers on walkthrough audits. They can also be mailed to customers whocan
complete the audit themselves.
The 2019 rebates are almost complete. There are still a couple of commercial customers
that are trying to complete their paperwork, but they may have to be pushed to 2020
for processing. The preliminary customer energy savings is estimated to be 2,928,343
kWh. Staff is evaluating the utility infrastructure efficiency models provided by the
Minnesota Department of Commerce to capture possible energy efficiency savings from
transformer and distribution conductor upgrades.
Attended a Senate Hearing at Mound Westonka High School on clean energy legislation.
The discussion focused on three initiatives that are being evaluated by state lawmakers.
The initiatives are Clean Energy First, 100% Carbon Free by 2050, and Conservation
Improvement Program Optimization. The administration is looking to have all three
pieces bundled together, while the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association direction is
to work with basics of the Clean Energy First and CIP Optimization initiatives, while
leaving the 100% Carbon Free initiative behind. The belief is that the Clean Energy First
will get to the result of 100% Carbon Free if its technologically and financially feasible.
