Bids for 7.5 MVA GSU Transformer
ACTION REQUESTED:
Award the contract for the 7.5 MVA GSU Transformer
BACKGROUND:
To prepare for the construction of the new Field Services Building, the existing power plant
substation needs to be relocated. This substation is needed to step the voltage from the diesel
engine generators of 4.16 kV up to ERMU’s distribution voltage of 12.47 kV. The transformer is
the longest lead time component needed for relocation of the substation to the northwest
corner of the power plant. The transformer is the only component of this substation that is
expected to be subject to competitive bidding law. ERMU plans to move forward with the
remainder of the design after award of the transformer bid.
DISCUSSION:
The bid opening is scheduled for March 9, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. The bid tabulation and letter of
recommendation from Power System Engineering will be provided at the time of the meeting
and a recommendation will be made.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost will be presented at the time of the meeting.
