RESOLUTION 92 - 40
RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE ELK RIVER AREA
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NEW OFFICE-INFORMATION CENTER
WHEREAS, the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce is a
civic-based organization that serves its members and
the area businesses and residents; and,
WHEREAS, Valspar Corporation has ownership of a caboose that it
desires to donate (for adoption) to a Minnesota
community that submits the best proposal for becoming
home to the caboose; and,
WHEREAS, the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce wishes to
submit a proposal to the Minnesota Department of Trade
and Economic Development for the caboose as a Chamber
Office-Information Center; and,
WHEREAS, as a Chamber Office-Information Center, the caboose
may serve as a unique focal point to the Jackson
Square Park in downtown Elk River.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Elk River that it supports the Chamber's proposal
for ownership of the caboose and that an appropriate
location for the office-information center is in the
Jackson Square area of downtown Elk River. This
Resolution will serve as evidence of the City Council
support for this project.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River
this 18th day of May, 1992.
