02-04-1935 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING February 4, 1935 The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday, Feb 4, 1935. Present: D.E. Davis, Pres.; J.D. Flaherty and Wm. Patenaude, Trustees; Wm H. Greupner, Clerk. A letter was read from Wm A Baehr, Org. in regards \[to\] the street light to be installed on the first curve No. of the Great Northern spur on a line with Hope street. Mr. L.G. Nelson, Mgr for the above Company was present and stated that if the Village wanted this light installed they would have to pay for the erecting of poles and wires which will be in the neighborhood of $85.00. After some discussion it was decided not to have this light installed at the present time. Wm. Greupner, Clerk reported that Mr. Chas Nelson had asked him to write to the Dean Hill Pump Co, Anderson Indiana, to get the prices of a new water pump and also prices of parts. A letter was read from this company stating that a new centrifugal pump duplicating present unit 4” 3 – Stage 100031 would be $738.00 net F.O.B. Anderson. and the necessary parts for the present pump would be $248.00. The matter was tabled because Mr. Nelson wanted to write Mr. Carringgross and see if he would furnish parts more reasonable This Clerk stated a merchant had complained to him that Gladys Hulbert had a bill at his place of business and he wanted to know if the Council could find some way of Collecting this bill without causing any trouble for Miss Hulbert. The Clerk was instructed to see Miss Hulbert and ask her to assign over $5.00 a month from her Library check until this Bill was payed \[sic\] J.D. Flaherty made a motion seconded by Wm Patenaude that the Clerk write a letter of recommendation to the State office for Mr. A. Mitten relief administrator for Sherburne Co. Wm. H. Greupner made a motion seconded by J.D. Flaherty to allow Chas. M. Nelson, Marshall $500.00 for the use of his car for the year 1934. A motion motion \[sic\] was made by Wm. Greupner, seconded by Wm Patenaude to pay Mr. Nelson $5.00 a month from now on for the use of his car for police work. A motion was made by J.D. Flaherty seconded by Wm Greupner and carried to accept the following bills and have them payed \[sic\] Elk River Power & Lt Co. Lights & Power $230.47 N.W Bell Tele. Co. Tele rent 2.50 Chas. M.
