VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
November 4, 1935
The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday November 4,
1935 at 8 o’clock P.M.
Members present:
D.E. Davis, Pres.; Wm Patenaude, J.D. Flaherty, Trustees;
Wm H Greupner, Clerk.
Visitors: W.B. Wies and Mr Bauta.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Bauta came before the Council stating that it was necessary for him to send in a blue print
before the W.P.A. project on the extension of the Water main could be approved. This matter was
layed on the table until a later meeting because all the Council members were not present.
John Bither asked the Council to send in an approval to Mr. Mitten so he would be able to receive
relief. A motion was made by Wm. Greupner seconded by Wm Patenaude recommending relief for
Mr. John Bither.
W.B. Wies representing the Midwest Fire apparatus Co explained to the Council a new kind of hose
their company is putting out. A two line 1 ½ in hose 100 ft each which would be easier for the
Firemen to handle. This hose with nozzle and a shut off could be purchased for $125.00 for a single
jacket and $135.00 for a double jacket. This was layed on the table until a later meeting.
A motion was made by Wm Patenaude seconded by J.D. Flaherty to have Geo Lowe, F. Pepin and
Art Malkson as judges and Irene Kaliher and Wm Greupner as Clerks for the Village Election Dec
3, 1935.
Wm Greupner, Clerk, reported that Geo Gonyea had taken over L. Garveys restaurant and asked to
have the 3.2 malt liquor license transferred to his name. A motion was made by Wm Greupner
seconded by Wm Patenaude to transfer Mr. Garvey’s license to Mr. Gonyea. Motion carried.
Wm H Greupner Clerk offered the following resolution and moved its adoption which was
seconded by Wm Patenaude – Resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River,
Sherburne County, Minnesota that said Council makes the amendment to the resolution passed by
the Council July 1, 1935. Resolution to read the same except the part reading (6% interest and
penalties) This is to be crossed out. Motion carried. Where upon said amendment was declared
adopted.
