01-10-1936 VCM Special VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING January 10, 1936 The special meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday January 10, 1936 at 7:30 o’clock P.M. Members present: J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; Geo Cornelius, G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, Clerk. Visitors: K. Davis, L.A. Dare, Wm Roggatz, Dan Hjerpe and Henry Olson representing the Elk River Fire Dept. The purpose of this meeting was to decide if the Village Council should allow the Fire Dept to answer County calls. After hearing the opinion of the Firemen and discussing the matter a resolution was offered by trustee G.A. Bailey who moved its adoption which was duly seconded by Wm H. Greupner, Clerk. Resolution Resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Elk River, Sherburne County, Minn. that said Council does hereby send it’s Fire Dept and equipment outside of the Village limits to any call within reason Whereas the telephone operator be instructed to blow the siren and call all firemen whenever a county call is turned in. Whereas the Village of Elk River pay the Firemen the same compensation as they would receive for a call within the city limits. Whereas, the Village charge either the insurance company or the property owner for making calls outside of the Village limits. Upon roll call this resolution was adopted. Ayes – Wm H Greupner, G.A. Bailey and J.D. Flaherty A.E. Taplin and Bob Vail presented an application for an “off sale” non intoxicating malt liquor license to have a beer route in and around Elk River. After some discussion Wm Greupner made a motion seconded by Wm Patenaude to grant a license to A.E. Taplin and Bob Vail. Motion carried. Roll call – Ayes Wm H Greupner, Wm Patenaude, J.D.
