VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
March 17, 1936
The special meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg store Tuesday March 17,
1936 at 2:00 o’clock P.M.
The purpose of this meeting was to read over the application of Carl Johnson for an “on and off”
sale non intoxicating malt liquor license. Mr. L.A. Herrick owner of the Bldg where Mr. Johnson is
going to start his business came before the Council and told them that Mr. Johnson and his wife
plan on operating their place the year around and asked to have the above application approved. A
motion was made by Wm. Greupner seconded by Wm Patenaude to allow Mr. Johnson an “on and
off” sale non-intoxicating malt liquor license. Upon roll call –
Ayes – Wm Patenaude, Wm Greupner, Geo Cornelius
J.D. Flaherty reported that the main on High Street leading to the Tile Factory was frozen and asked
the opinion of the Council on this matter. It was decided to leave it up to the Water Committee to
do what they thought best.
No further business meeting adjourned.
