VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
April 6, 1936
The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg store Monday April 6,
1936 at 8:00 o’clock P.M.
Members present:
J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees;
Wm H Greupner, Clerk.
The minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Chas Booth came before the Council stating that he was planning on buying a snow plow providing
he was assured that the Village would give him the job of plowing the streets next winter. Mr. Booth
was told that the Council could not make this promise.
Donald Dare and Ralph Wige came before the Council asking permission to buy two base horns
which would cost approximately $208.00 but stated that the Elk River School has some old
instruments that they were willing to turn in and the company would allow approximately $124.00
for these instruments. The actual cost to the Villate would be about $84.00. A motion was made by
G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius authorizing Donald Dare and Ralph Wige to purchase these
two horns. Motion carried.
A letter was read from Henry Pfeiffer resigning as Justice of Peace in and for the Village of Elk
River. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to accept Mr. Pfeiffers
resignation. Motion carried.
Wm Clements, street commissioner reported that they were working on the water mains which were
frozen (on Depot Street) and asked if the Council thought it best to lower this part of main as much
as it could be lowered and he also asked permission to buy three lengths of water mains from
Princeton. Mr. Clements was instructed to take care of this matter.

A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Wm Patenaude and carried that these applicants
be issued licenses to sell non intoxicating malt liquor for one year from April 7, 1936 to April 7,
1937 on sale $25.00 off sale $5.00
A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Greupner and carried to accept the
following bills and have them payed.
