11-02-1936 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING November 2, 1936 The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Nov 2, 1936 at 8:00 o’clock P.M. Members present: J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, Clerk. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Vernon Hetrick, Mgr Co-op Oil Co came before the Council stating that he had received a letter from Fred Ayers, asking him to remove his gasoline truck out of the wooden bldg. on Main Street. After some discussion the Council decided it was a hazardous place for a gasoline truck and asked Mr. Hetrick to put his truck in another place. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm H Greupner, authorizing Chas Nelson to purchase two storm windows for the Pumphouse. Motion carried. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Patenaude to appoint the following judges and clerks for the Village election on Dec 8, 1936. Judges Joe Parker, Frank Nogle, Wm Blocker, Clerks Mrs. Eva Foley and Edna Barrett. Motion carried. Fred Ayers stated at the previous meeting that he did not care to read the water meters anymore. The question of who to have read the meters was brought up at this time. After some discussion it was decided to have a special meeting the following Monday night to hire someone to read the meters and take care of the waterworks. A motion was made by Wm Patenaude seconded by Wm Greupner to turn off the two traffic lights on Main Street for the winter months. The Clerk to notify Chas Nelson about this matter. Monty Bloomdahl, County Commissioner asked to have a street light put in front of the courthouse. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to have this light put in. Motion carried. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the following bills and ordered them payed. E.R. Power and Lt Co. – power and lights 241.57 N.W.
