VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 7, 1936
The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Dec 7, 1936 at 8
o’clock.
Members present:
J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, Trustees;
Wm H Greupner, Clerk.
A committee from the Campfire girls came before the Council and asked if they could use the
Council room for their weekly meetings which is on Tuesday night. The girls were told they could
use the room for their meetings and they could get the key from the clerk or janitor.
The following petitions and its signers was read

The undersigned respectfully call your attention to the need for light on Park Street and Lookout
Ave. We recommend that a street light be installed on Park Street and also at the intersection of
Park Street and Lookout Avenue. We trust that this matter may have your prompt and favorable
consideration.

We further wish to call your attention to the flooding of private property resulting from present
street drainage in Hastings Addition. Entire street area of Minnesota, Park Street and Lookout Ave
drain into catch basin at the south end of Park Street. Due to Improvements made on extension of
Park Street road, Culvert draining portion of water across fair grounds has been blocked. To avoid
services overflow in the spring, it Is essential that proper drainage be provided at this time.

The matter was tabled to be taken up at a special meeting. In the mean time the members are to
investigate this matter.
The matter was brought up about the hydrant located on the lower end of Main Street, which has
been out of order for sometime. The Clerk was instructed to see H. Middlestadt and have him
replace this hydrant with the new one the Village has on hand.
The Clerk reported that he had seen Geo Waterfield about taking care of the water works but was
told he could not take the job because he did not know anything about this kind of work. It was
decided to bring this matter up at another special meeting.
A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm. Patenaude to allow the following bills
