02-07-1938 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING February 7, 1938 The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday Feb 7, 1938 at 8 o’clock P.M. Members present: Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, Clerk. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Joe Holzem came before the Council and asked permission to have his house moved to the lot next to Joe Ludvicks. He stated he would put on asbestos shingles and fix the house according to the requirements for places in the fire zone. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius, to grant Mr. Joe Holzem this request. Motion carried. A letter was read from the Library board stating that they were very much in need of a typewriter for the Librarian and requested the Council to allow them to purchase one. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius authorizing the Library Board to buy a typewriter not to exceed $30.00. Motion carried. A petition was presented to the Council with approximately one hundred signers asking that the Village Council use their influence to keep the truck highways running thru Elk River. The petition was read and put on file. Dr. Ellison, a physician at Monticello, report in regards to the physical examination of Leslie Laugley was read and placed on file The relief problem was discussed and it was thought best that the Village Council ask for a monthly report from Miss Hoyt relief administrator stating the names and amount each relief client receives. The following bills were allowed and a motion made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to have the clerk pay them. N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent 6.75 E.R.
