03-07-1938 VCM VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING March 7, 1938 The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday March 7, 1938 at 8 o’clock P.M. Members present: Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Geo Cornelius, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; Wm H Greupner, Clerk. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to have the clerk see Frank White, Village Attorney, about writing a letter to Miss Hoyt. Co Relief Adm asking that she send a monthly report showing the amounts that are spent on each relief client. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to grant Mrs. Ida Bougoyne an “on and off” non-intoxicating malt liquor license. Motion carried. A motion was made by Wm Patenaude seconded by Wm Greupner to grant Mrs. Ida Bourgoyne a dance license for one year. Motion carried. The subject was brought up again about the pin ball machines in Elk River and after some discussion a motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to have Frank White draw up an ordinance licensing pin ball machines at $50.00 a year for each machine and let no one under 21 yrs of age be allowed to play them. Motion carried. The following bills were allowed and a motion made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to have the clerk pay them. N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent 3.75 E.R. Power and Lt Co – light and power 227.12 Peter Jalb – repairs 1.75 First Natl Bk – insurance 6.00 Harold Sykes – school police 10.00 Walter J Cox – fuel – 27.90 Ethel Lloyd – labor 1.50 Central Lbr Co – supplies 8.44 H.R. Caley – supplies 105.75 R.E. Dares – supplies 2.90 Riverside Garage – repairs 1.90 Odegard and Nickerson – storage 1.50 Frank J White – legal fees 25.00 Dan Hjerpe – repairs 18.00 S.S. Smith – typewriter 30.00 S.R.
