VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
May 2, 1938
The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday May 2, 1938 at 8
o’clock P.M.
Members present:
Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, Geo Cornelius, Trustees;
Wm H Greupner, Clerk.
The minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Ralph Wige, Director of the Elk River Municipal Band, came before the Council and asked to be

reappointed as Band Director for the year 1938 at $10.00 a rehearsal until June 1 and then $100.00
a month from June first to Sept first. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm
Patenaude to reappoint Ralph Wige for Band Director at the above said salary.
J.D. Flaherty and Jim Odegard presented an ordinance in regards to second hand automobile
dealers. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Patenaude to have Frank White
look over this ordinance and then the Council would act on same.
A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Wm Patenaude to grant Joe M. Ledder an “on
and off” sale non-intoxicating malt liquor license. Motion carried.
Mr. Groft presented an application for a building permit to build an addition on to his buildings. A
motion was made by G.A. bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to grant Mr. Groft this permit.
A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to continue with the curb and
sidewalk project. The first job to be replacing sidewalk in front of business places on Princeton
Street and North side of Main Street.
A letter was read from Miss Hoyt in regards to Alfred Axelson case asking the Council advise if he
should be sent back to Anoka County before he gains residence in Sherburne County. A motion was
made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Patenaude authorizing Miss Hoyt to send Alfred Axelson
family back to Anoka County.
A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the following building
permits. Joe Schwab, Joe Huseth and Lou Kish.
A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Wm Patenaude to allow a pin ball machine
license to Orville Christenson.
The subject was brought up about both houses and a life guard at the swimming pool. Frank
Nickerson pres appointed Wm Patenaude to take care of this matter. Authorizing him to hire a life
guard and have both houses built.
A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Patenaude authorizing the Library board to
buy Venetian blinds for the Library.
A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the following bills
