VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
September 6, 1938
The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Building Tuesday Sept 6, 1938
at 8 o’clock P.M.
Members present:
Frank Nickerson, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, Geo Cornelius, Trustees;
Wm H Greupner, Clerk.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Patenaude to fix the walk and curb in front
of Hahus Store. The sidewalk to be fixed the same as in front of the First Natl Bank. Motion carried.
A letter was read from Miss Hoyt, Co Relief Administration, stating that within another thirty days
Alfred Axelson and family would gain their residence in Sherburne County and it would cost the
County about $150.00 a year. She thought it best that this family be moved back to Anoka County
immediately. After some discussion it was the opinion of the Council to have this family moved
back to Anoka County.
A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to hire Gene Glidden as school
patrol at $10.00 a month for the school year.
A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to grant building permits to Wm
Mausur for a garage and Eugene Axelson for a house.
Harold Keays, caretaker of the parks was present and stated that some of the trees needed attention
and wanted to know if the Council wanted him to do the work. Mr. Keays was instructed to take
care of the trees.
A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by G.A. Bailey to put in a side walk and curb on
the Village lot located at Park Street and to put in a culvert at Park Street and Lookout Ave. Motion
carried.
A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by G.A. Bailey to allow the following bills.
