Action Requested
Appoint, by motion, Michael Westgaard to the Arena Commission as the Elk River Youth Hockey
representative for a term to begin immediately and expiring February 28, 2022.
Background/Discussion
Brian Ballenger did not seek reappointment as the Elk River Youth Hockey Association (ERYHA)
representative on the Arena Commission.
Staff reached out to ERYHA for a replacement representative to serve on the commission. ERYHA would
Eke Michael Westgaard to serve on the commission as their representative.

Why are you interested The Elk River Youth Hockey Association asked if I would serve
in serving on a city as their representative on the commission. In addition, I have a
commission? deep-rooted sense of duty and commitment to this city and
community.
What skills, training, I believe the request from ERYHA comes as a result of my years
and experience would of service (and still going) at the youth level, as well as, my
you bring to the current participation on the board for Elk River Girls High School
commission for which Hockey as Vice President. I believe my experience with both
you seek appointment? organizations along with nearly 20 years of operating my own
small business will be value on the commission. My agenda
would be to advocate for the hockey programs while offering
perspective, ideas, and guidance in any way I can that benefit
arena operations. I think of myself as someone able to digest
complex details and obscure viewpoints while creatively
structuring efficient solutions.
