VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
February 3, 1947
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on February 3, 1947.
Members present:
Mayor Glenn Davidson, V.B. Skellenger, Elmer Leger, R.A. Ellingson; H.A. Briggs,
Clerk
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. The minutes of the meetings were read and
approved.
Ernest Nelson and Dr. E.F. Clothier representing the Fire Department were present. They called
attention to the fact that the fire department needed a respirator to be used in cases of suffocation
or drowning. The fire department offered to pay $100 of the expense. Upon motion by Skellenger
and second by Leger the council agreed to buy such an instrument. Carried.
A motion was made by Leger and seconded by Skellenger that the village purchase two flood lights
for the fire truck and also one charger large enough to charge one battery. Motion carried.
Application for building permit of Wm Greupner was approved.
Application for on and off beer license by Edward Miller was up for consideration. Upon motion by
Ellingson and second by Skellenger the application was approved but clerk was asked to hold up
license until Miller arrives in town or until Council has further information in regard to who will
conduct the place of sale.
A motion by Leger and second by Briggs that Clarence Barnier be hired as bartender at the
Municipal Liquor Store. Carried.
