VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
February 7, 1949
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Feb 7, 1949.
Members present:
Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees
R.A. Ellingson acted as clerk in the absence of the regular clerk.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as amended.
A letter was received from Mrs. Florence Taylor asking for an additional $5.00 a month for the care
and maintenance of her sister, Grace Kenniston. Upon motion by Parent and a second by Ellingson
the request was granted. All members voting in favor.
An application was received from Lewie R Munich for building a garage. As this was in a residential
district, the application was held over until a later date or until the village ordinance covering this
matter could be looked up.
The annual report of the Library was received and placed on file.
Councilman Bailey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
Resolved that the village council does hereby approve the classification of the following properties
as non-conservation property:
N ½ of Lot 5, Block 2, except highway: Lot 7, Block 2, except highway; N. 87 feet of Lots 6 and 7
Block 3 except Highway. That the mayor and clerk be authorized to execute the classification blank
for the County Board of Sherburne County as being forfeited lands so that the County may put
these properties up for sale. The resolution was seconded by Ellingson and was carried.
A.G. Madson appeared and asked for an increase in rent for the Liquor Store from $40.00 to $50.00
a month. The matter was discussed but no action was taken as the Council wanted to check into the
matter further.
