VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
March 7, 1949
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Mar 7, 1949.
Members present:
Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. Briggs
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
Charles Arrell was present. He made complaint about damage to gardens and shrubs by dogs. The
council agreed to see what can be done about the dog nuisance. The clerk was instructed to write
several towns and find out what they do in regard to dog situation. Mr. Arrell also complained about
some dirt and refuse that should have been removed from his sidewalk. The council agreed to
investigate.
Representatives of Matt Sales Corp of Minneapolis presented samples of signs suitable for naming
streets. Nothing was done about it at this meeting.
Vernon Skellenger presented the annual report of the Water, Light and Power Commission. E.R.
Martin, accountants, presented a report of the Municipal Liquor Store for the year 1948. These
reports were filed with the Clerk.
Andrew Madsen asked for increase in rent for the building occupied by the Liquor Store. A motion
was made by Bailey and seconded by Ellingson to raise the rent to $50.00 a month. Motion carried.
