VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
August 1, 1949
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Aug 1, 1949.
Members present:
Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A.
Briggs
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Odegard. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
A delegation composed Lewie Munich, Frank Easton, Leo Lemke, Rodney Anderson and Joe
Doebler appeared and asked that the sewer in the north part of town be completed. After some
discussion the Council agreed to look over the situation on Wed Aug 3 at 7:30 A.M.
The Council decided to close the bathing beach and the Clerk was instructed to have notice of
closing put in the local paper.
The Clerk was asked to write the League in regard to the expense of repairing sidewalks, whether the
cost should be assumed by the village or charged to the property owner.
An application for building permit by Oscar Swanson was approved all voting in favor.
Ellen Tracy was present and asked that she be given more assistance for rent and living expenses.
The Council agreed to raise the amount from $30.00 to $35.00 a month.
