VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 5, 1949
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Dec 5, 1949.
Members present:
Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A.
Briggs
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Leslie Matz appeared and presented his bill for the 1949 assessing. The bill was approved for
$450.00 and the clerk was instructed to issue a warrant for that amount.
A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Briggs to appoint the following on the village library
board:
Mrs. John Wagner
Mrs. Maud Spaulding
Mrs. Ben Roper
Motion carried.
A committee composed of Oscar Swanson, Frank Belanger and H. Anderson met with the Council
in regard to the sewer extension which was discussed at the last council meeting.
The Council agreed to take this matter up in the spring.
A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded Parent to approve a transfer on Nov 2, 1949 of
$1500.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Sewer Construction Fund. Carried.
The following bills were approved and ordered paid:

N.W. Bell Telephone Co – Nov 9.10
Elk River Utilities – hydrant rent 52.00
Bank of Elk River – 4-$1000 sewer registered warrants and interest 4315.00
Charles M Nelson – extra police 7.00
Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00
Zella M Page – library books 32.01
E.R. Utilities – lights – Nov 415.70
Farm Bureau – fuel for Hall 30.24
Fire Dept – services 24.00
Fire Dept – services 75.00
Texaco Service Station – gas for truck 19.53
E.R. Machine Shop – repairs fire dept 8.00
Jones and Kroeger – blanks for clerk 3.69
Sherburne County – weed notices 5.65
E.R. Concrete Prod Co – chloride 22.20
First Nat’l Bank – ins fire truck 7.50
The Council approved transfer of $4500.00 from the Liquor Fund to the General Fund for the
purpose of paying four $1000.00 registered warrants and interest issued on the General Fund for
Sewer Construction on Oct 15, 1946, Nos 1106, 1107, 1108 and 1109. These were paid for out of
the General Fund. Amount $4315.00.
