VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
November 5, 1951
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Nov 5, 1951.
Members present:
R. A. Ellingson, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs,
Clerk
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ellingson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
John Lum, manager of the local telephone company was present. He requested permission for the
telephone company to put in an underground cable under State Street across from the Elk River
Cleaners. Upon motion by Ryding and second by Parent this permit was granted. All voting in favor.
Lester Derr reported on the progress of drainage work in the west part of town.
A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Parent to transfer $5700.00 from the Liquor Fund to
the General Fund and to the Sewer Construction Fund for the purpose of paying off $5000.00 of
registered sewer warrants at the First National Bank. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Bailey to make the hours for the Village Election on
Dec 4 from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. Carried.
