VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
January 7, 1952
A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Jan 7, 1952.
Members present:
E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs,
Clerk
The meeting was called to order by Mayor elect E.A. Parent. The newly elected officers, Trustee
Harry Dow and Mayor E.A. Parent were installed. The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved.
A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Dow to appoint Charles M Nelson, Marshall for
1952 at a salary of $215.00 a month plus $35.00 a month for use of his car. Motion carried.
The following standing committees were appointed by Mayor Parent for 1952:
Sewer Committee – Ryding, Parent, Bailey
Parks and Playgrounds – Briggs, Ryding
Liquor Committee – Parent, Ryding, Dow
Relief Committee- Briggs, Bailey
Road and Bridge – Bailey, Dow, Briggs
A motion was made by Ryding and seconded by Briggs to approve application for on and off license
at Tip Top Café of Clemen Steelpflug and cancel the gagen license. Motion carried.
The following bills were approved and ordered paid:
Nickerson Bros – gas, oil, mdse 3.87
Fire Department – fires 48.00
